(PALM BEACH COUNTY & MARTIN COUNTY, Fla.)- In a bid to address the imminent threat of homelessness in several Florida communities, Florida Rural Legal Services (FRLS) is rolling out the Housing Emergency Advocacy Response Team (HEART) program.

Residents in Belle Glade, Pahokee, Palm Beach, Riviera Beach, South Bay, West Palm Beach, and Stuart, who find themselves at-risk of homelessness, may now access free legal advocacy assistance.

Beyond providing legal advocacy assistance, FRLS is committed to actively participating in educational and outreach community events. The aim is to empower the community with knowledge about their rights and to proactively prevent homelessness. The importance of eviction and foreclosure prevention awareness takes center stage, with FRLS leading the charge in ensuring residents are informed and equipped to navigate potential housing crises.

This initiative is backed by the generous grant funding from the Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation Impact Fund II, channeled through the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties.

The HEART Program aligns with FRLS's mission to not only address immediate legal concerns but also actively engage in preventative measures. By participating in educational and outreach events, FRLS aims to create a proactive and informed community, ultimately reducing the risk of homelessness.

As Florida grapples with housing challenges, FRLS remains steadfast in its dedication to providing legal aid that can make a significant impact on the lives of those facing housing emergencies. The HEART Program is poised to be a beacon of support, offering not just legal assistance, but also fostering awareness and resilience in the communities it serves.
