(FORT MYERS, Fla.)- Florida Rural Legal Services (FRLS) has named Peter Dennis as the new Managing Attorney of its Fort Myers Office, overseeing operations across Lee, Charlotte, Hendry, Desoto, and Glades counties. Dennis, a distinguished legal professional, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to serving underprivileged populations to his new role.

A graduate of the University of Florida and New York University School of Law, Dennis is admitted to practice law in both Florida and New York. His legal career has been marked by a steadfast dedication to championing the rights of marginalized communities. With a background that includes international human rights work, public defense, and private practice focusing on under-represented groups, Dennis is well-equipped to lead FRLS's efforts in Fort Myers.

Dennis's personal background, as the son of a Liberian immigrant who spent part of his youth in Liberia, has instilled in him a profound understanding of the importance of access to a fair judicial system. Throughout his career, he has been driven by the belief that legal advocacy can be a powerful force for social justice.

Dennis joined FRLS initially as a Staff Attorney, representing clients through the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant. Over time, he expanded his role, taking on additional responsibilities as the Pro-Bono Coordinator for the regional office. In his new capacity as Managing Attorney, Dennis will oversee the daily operations of the Fort Myers Office, ensuring that FRLS continues to provide vital legal services to individuals in need, free of charge.

FRLS offers assistance on a wide range of civil legal issues, including family law, general civil litigation, migrant worker rights, and housing law, among others. With Dennis at the helm, the Fort Myers Office is poised to continue its impactful work, advocating for justice and equality in Southwest Florida communities.
