Pro Bono Spotlight | FRLS Volunteer Attorney Greg Nussbickel Finds Faith in the Legal System Through Pro Bono Work

(FLORIDA) – Though our legal system endeavors to protect all individuals, it often falls short. Social and economic inequities can create an uneven judicial landscape, proving some with superior legal resources and access than others who are less fortunate. Rather than despair, Florida attorney Greg Nussbickel takes action. Specifically, the Principal and Founder of the Nussbickel Law Firm, volunteers his time and legal skills through the Pro Bono Program at Florida Rural Legal Services, Inc. (FRLS).

FRLS is a non-profit law firm that provides free civil legal aid to qualified individuals, families, and vulnerable communities across 13 Florida counties and to farmworkers statewide.

“Serving underprivileged individuals renews my faith in the justice system,” states Nussbickel, whose experience as a Pro Bono volunteer has provided him with a deeper understanding of Florida’s justice gap. “My time working with FRLS in the past gave me insight on the need for Pro Bono services. Many individuals simply can't afford a lawyer and would be lost without free assistance,” he adds.

Nussbickel knows the advantages an attorney can afford everyday people, who are often left to address their civil legal challenges without limited advice or counsel, let alone full representation. “Low-income individuals are often left to their own devices,” notes Nussbickel, adding that “Having an advocate on your side can make a big difference.”

And it’s not only Nussbickel’s faith in the legal system that is renewed through Pro Bono work. It’s his clients’, too: “We can help relieve their burdens and get them back on track.”
