Victim of a Crime (VOCA)
FRLS provides free civil legal services to residents in our service areas who are victims of a crime. The VOCA program has no income limits for its applicants. Therefore, high or low-income persons may apply for VOCA services. Our VOCA attorneys provide family and immigration law services:
Family Law Services:
- Domestic Violence Injunctions
- Paternity Cases
- Temporary Custody
- Guardianship of Minors
- Divorce –where the other spouse is represented by an attorney, minor children are involved, or there is domestic violence.
- Adoption of Minor Children
- Emergency Pick-Up Motions- when the minor child is being withheld from the legal guardian or parent.
Immigration Law Services:
- Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)- Path to citizenship if abused by U.S. Citizen/LPR Spouse, Former Spouse (within 2 years), Parents, or Siblings (if U.S. Citizen).
- T Visa- Path to citizenship if trafficked for sex/labor.
- U Visa- Path to citizenship if survivor of certain criminal activities.
- Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)- Path to citizenship if unmarried, under 21 years old and abused, neglected or abandon by one or both parents.
