(FORT PIERCE, Fla.)- Florida Rural Legal Services (FRLS) has recently announced the appointment of Iola T. Mosley, Esq. as the Interim Executive Director. A native of Florida, Mosley brings a wealth of legal experience and a deep commitment to justice to her new role.

Legal Career and Expertise

Iola T. Mosley has been an integral part of the legal landscape, engaging in the practice of law for over three decades. Her diverse legal background encompasses roles as a trial attorney, administrative law and regulatory practice attorney, and housing attorney. Her primary focus has been in Palm Beach and St. Lucie Counties since 1987.

Throughout her 33 years of practice, Mosley has demonstrated her commitment to justice in various capacities. She served as an Assistant Public Defender in the 15th Judicial Circuit, handling cases in several trial divisions, including capital crimes attorney in both trial and sentencing mitigation, Juvenile, Felony, and Misdemeanor divisions. Her expertise extends to appellate counsel, recruitment and training coordination, and private practice.

Mosley's professional journey includes roles such as Private Practitioner in partnership with Whitfield and Mosley, P.A.; Assistant City Attorney for the City of West Palm Beach; Assistant State Attorney for the 15th Judicial Circuit; Senior Counsel for regulatory compliance and Academics in the Office of the Chief Counsel for the Palm Beach County School District; Deputy City Attorney for the City of Fort Pierce, specializing in labor and employment, police matters, contracts, Code enforcement, planning building, and zoning. Currently, she serves as the Managing Attorney for the Fort Pierce Regional Office of Florida Rural Legal Services, Inc.

Contributions to Legal Community and Organizations

Iola T. Mosley's dedication extends beyond her legal practice. She has actively contributed to public forums and conducted training sessions on various aspects of Florida public records, open government, ethics for elected officials, and Landlord-Tenant Law.

As a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated for 30 years, Mosley is actively involved in the West Palm Beach Alumnae Chapter. Additionally, she is a member of The Charmettes Incorporated - Palm Beach County Chapter and the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Mosley is a member of the Florida Bar and the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
