Planning for Safety After Leaving
Leaving an abusive relationship is one of the most dangerous times for survivors. A safety plan should include where to go, who to call, and how to protect your privacy. Consider changing locks, updating passwords, and informing trusted friends or family members about your situation.
Securing Legal Protections
Legal protections such as injunctions for protection, custody orders, and address confidentiality programs can help prevent future contact from an abuser. Survivors can also request that their address be kept confidential in public records to maintain safety.

Managing Financial and Housing Concerns
Many survivors face challenges finding safe housing or managing shared finances after leaving an abuser. FRLS can help address housing issues, file for child or spousal support, and provide referrals to emergency shelters or financial assistance programs.
