Board Member Application
Your lived experience is exactly what we need.
Florida Rural Legal Services, Inc. (FRLS) is looking for client-eligible community members to join our Board of Directors, people who understand the challenges facing those who need legal help and can’t afford it.
To qualify as a client-eligible board member, your household income must be at or below 125% of the federal poverty level. Once appointed, you can continue serving on the Board even if your financial circumstances improve. Click here to view the 2026 Poverty Guidelines.

What board members do:
Set and protect the organization's mission and vision
Oversee fiscal operations and resources
Shape policy development and implementation
Develop resources to sustain the organization's goals
Ensure strong leadership and management are
in place
Meet regularly to review operations and progress
Who should apply:
- Your household income is at or below 125% of the federal poverty level
- You live in the communities FRLS serves
- You care about equal access to justice for low-income Floridians
- You're willing to attend regular board meetings and participate actively in at least one committee of the Board
